Covergirl Makeup Archive

Here is where I'll be documenting past collection of makeup from Covergirl, with entries containing shades, product details and swatches wherever possible. To keep this tidy, I'm keeping it contained to one page rather than individual ones. Thanks for viewing!

Cheekers

One of Covergirl's legacy products, the Cheekers blushes have been around since (at least?) 2002 and come in many, many shades. The only shades still being made are:

Instant Cheekbones Contouring Blush

Another legacy product, the earliest record I can find of these is a review from 2002. Only four shades seem to exist, with the following names:

I'm also noticing that these share almost the exact same component as the TruCheeks Blushes, which released closer to 2008. 6 different shades of TruCheeks blushes were available, with names from 1 to 6.

Whipped Shadows

These are pretty elusive! Released around mid-2006, these cream eyeshadow singles were a limited edition release for some unknown occasion. I only found five shades:

  1. Whipped Copper
  2. Whipped Pearl
  3. Whipped Topaz
  4. Whipped Amethyst
  5. Whipped Gold

I could only find images of these three. :(

Wetslicks Lip Gloss

Released in Summer 2007, the Covergirl Wetslicks Lip Glosses were the first in the Wetslicks lip gloss line. Based on this incredibly blurry image, I think that 27 shades were released initially.

All in all, I found 26 shade names and tooooons of limited edition shades I'll look into for future archival fun. Also note: all glosses with the slightly different "crystal" packaging are marked with an */asterisk. I did find a couple other shades with numbers, but they break the 5-by-5 pattern established here, which makes me believe they're special editions of some sort.

One collection I found in my previous searching was the Amazemint line. Released in Summer 2008, the Wetslick Amazemint Lip Glosses were a collaboration with Crest featuring a mint-vanilla flavor. The first record I can find of these is from Makeup Alley, but written reviews pop up closer to 2011 and 2012.

After doing some searching, the shade names for this collection are:

Released sometime around Winter 2007/Spring 2008, Wetslicks Fruit Spritzers were a new addition to the Wetslicks line featuring 12 flavored, tinted glosses. These came in squeeze tubes, unlike the initial Wetslicks releases. Flavors/shades are as follows:

Released in early 2012, the Covergirl Blast Flipsticks were a double-sided lipstick tube with one cream shade and one shimmer shade. By using individual shades or layering the two shades, consumers can create 3 different lip looks. This product came in 12 different shades:

Released in May 2017, the Covergirl Melting Pout Gel Liquid Lipsticks are the first products in the Covergirl Melting Pout line of lip products. Composed of a gel cream formula, these lipsticks have great pigmentation and aren't drying on the lips. 12 different shades were produced, with the following names:

Katy Kat Palettes/Glam Kits/Lashes

Released in April 2018, the Katy Kat Palettes were a line of 2 different eyeshadow palettes. Cool Kat features sparkly pastels, while Hot Kat is more warm and nude.

Alongside the eyeshadow palettes, several Glam Kits were also released. These featured a shade of the Katy Kat lip glosses and a matching body glitter. These kits appear to have come in 5 shades:

  4. Cobalt Kitty 04
  5. Kitty Karma 05

The last addition to this collection were 2 styles of false eye lashes, named Katy Kat Wink. Kat Whiskers is a wispy, natural lash, and Fluffy Kat is a thicker, fluffier lash.

Melting Pout Metallic Gel Liquid Lipstick

Released in Spring 2018, the Covergirl Melting Pout Metallic Gel Liquid Lipsticks are another installment within the Melting Pout line. Much like the non-metallic gel lipsticks, these are very pigmented and moisturizing. 12 colors in total were released:

Melting Pout Holographic Lip Color

Released in Spring/Summer 2018, Covergirl's Melting Pout Holographic Lip Color are the only holographic product within the Melting Pout line. 8 shades were released:

Exhibitionist Lipsticks and Lip Liners

Also released in Summer 2018 were 48 new shades of lipstick and 8 shades of lip liners! Of the 48 shades in total, 37 are cream shades, 9 are demi-mattes, and the last 12 are metallics.

Melting Pout Matte Liquid Lipstick

Released in September 2018, the Covergirl Melting Pout Matte Liquid Lipsticks are an aptly-named addition to the Melting Pout line of lip products. Some records of these (mostly in the form of video reviews) do exist before their 2018 release, curiously.

These lipsticks came in 12 different colors, as follows:

Mysteriously, another 4 shades of this lipstick seem to exist without any record of why. The earliest reviews on Amazon tell me these came out around April/May of 2019. Also of note is their alternate labeling on Amazon; these four shades are called "24HR Matte Liquid Lipsticks".

Melting Pout Glitz Liquid Glitter Topcoat

Released in conjunction with the Melting Pout Matte lipsticks (September 2018) were the Melting Pout Glitz Liquid Glitter Topcoats. These came in two colors, a silver and a champagne. Shade names are as follows:

Full Spectrum Line

Announced at the tail-end of 2018, Covergirl's Full Spectrum collection was designed for people of color and had many products in more inclusive shade ranges. The Full Spectrum collection had a Contour and Correct Palette, 4 variations of 8-shade eyeshadow palettes, 6 eyeshadow quads, 3 cheek palettes, 6 concealers, a primer, 6 vibrant eyeliners, 12 matte powder foundations, 20 matte liquid foundations, 20 bullet lipsticks, 14 shades of lip gloss, and 12 matte liquid lipsticks. Goddamn!!

Released around the beginning of 2019, the Covergirl Melting Pout Vinyl Vow lip glosses are an extension of the matte Melting Pout lipsticks released in mid-2018. These lip glosses (hence the "vinyl" label) are full-coverage and hydrating, with a total of 12 shades in the line.
